Dr. Kannan Muthu joins Green Story as Chief Sustainability Officer

We are excited to announce that Dr. Kannan Muthu, world renowned Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) specialist, has joined Green Story as the Chief Sustainability Officer.

With Dr. Muthu onboard and following a two years of exceptional growth working with leading brands like PANGAIA, thredup and BAM Bamboo Clothing, we aim to consolidate our position at the forefront of data-driven transparency and as the standard for sustainability data excellence in the fashion industry.

Dr. Muthu is the former lead of Environmental Services Division-Asia of SGS and former head and director of Sustainability of SgT Group, the textile quality specialist within the WORMS SAFETY Alliance, the first global alliance of safety and quality management specialists. With a PhD in Environmental Life Cycle Assessment in Textiles and Clothing, Dr. Muthu is a Textile Technologist and has published 140 scientific books (including: Handbook of Life Cycle Assessment of Textiles and Clothing, Assessing the Environmental Impacts of Textiles and Clothing Supply Chain, Handbook of Carbon Footprint, among others) and 100 research articles. He has over 12 years of experience in environmental and chemical sustainability and has worked with hundreds of factories and international leading brands’ supply chains. He’s one of the Higg Index’s initial contributors and today’s one of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) approved FEM (Facility Environmental Module) trainers and verifiers in the world.

Dr. Muthu will bring Green Story’s Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) expertise and know-how to the next level, accelerating our vision to empower 1 billion consumers to know their impact and make choices that are better for the planet and the generations to come. What’s more, Dr. Muthu will drive the Green Story team to advance innovation in the LCA space for innovative and sustainable fibers and is working closely with our tech team on the development of our new self-serve all-in-one platform, a game-changer for greater transparency in fashion supply chains.
